has anybody any experiance with the savage #72 .22 falling block?I'm looking at one ,probably made in the 70's or 80's -octagon barrel in excellent shape, the guy wants $325.I admit being partial to old rifles, single shots, neat stuff like that.I'd be interested in anybodies opinions on the trigger, accuracy ,stuff like that....would you buy one?

This gun is more of a pivot breech/dropping breech, the lever is attached to a linkage that rotates the breech back and down lowering the breechblock, its a dropping breech not a full blown falling breech like a Sharps and not like a ithica model49 tipping block like a martini.
I wanted one and bought one new, was ok for a mass produced gun that has cast metal breech (alum) My magnum isnt really a target gun shoots well enough fo hunting, a fella can order tang sight for it if one wants.
Im partial to single shots and have had a few different some with worse accuracy some better, love the feel, easy carrying gun, its almost too light though.
its kinda funkey in feeding and extracting the longer rounds in this gun, its action wouldent allow for a longer or fatter round, sometimes the empty round can come clear the chamber and hang up on the hammer a little its a thing that can happen with a fella not familure with the action its fun different, dont count on fast followup shots with this gun when hunting.
