bear tigercat 62in. 42# ??s
« on: December 21, 2010, 08:29:32 PM »
hey guys im new to the recurve thing i might be able to trade a coleman 15.5 canoe for this bow in what looks to be in almost new  shape no stress dents screen print is good shape now the ?s are

i draw 30 so does that make this bow  around 46ish pounds ?

is this a good bow for deer hunting ?

i have a indian 60 in.40# fiberglass camp bow ive been playing with this summer target shooting while looking for a good deal
i bought some epic 600 carbon arrows with 5 in. rh twist feathers at full 32in. they fly good im hitting the target all around the center at @20yrds but not good yet but im learning im hoping that this tiger cat being a better bow will bring my groups closer not ready to hunt yet but next year i should be if i get out there and shoot it
                              thanks for any info b44mag

Good find!  Your probably going to be pushing a litte closer to 48 lbs but given the age of the bow and how its marked somewhere around 46 to 48lbs seems about right.  If  you want to know spot on put it on a scale.

Don't know how much the canoe is worth but if  your happy with the trade that's what important, don't really know how much the bear cat is worth, the collectors out their might know better, I'd probalby not pay more than  100 or 150 depending upon serial number and history of bow.

Bow should be fine for bowhunting whitetails and such with right arrows and sharp broadhead

have fun!

Check 3River Archery for a spine chart. Off the top of my head you'll need full length arrows, most are 32inches, some manufatures a little off from that.  Arrows spined somewhere 55 to 60 lbs should do it.  The spine charts should help with carbons and specific numbers 600, 500, 400, and the like, sorry don't have any long arrows I can send yea, all mine are cut a few inches off...

Because you need full length arrows I would recommend you go with 340 shafts if they are going to be full length and add 100g brass inserts.  Then go with a 150 to 175g two blade broadhead to give you the weight and Front of Center (FoC) for great penetrations.  This setup would blast through any whitetail and be awesome for hogs as well.
