My son is looking at going after Dall Sheep next fall.  He has been looking at Ballistics tables and Trajectory charts.  He has decided to go with a 25-06 and a 110 gr bullet.  That should get him out to 600 yards with enough energy left to do the job on a sheep.  Now for the scope.

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Got a brand new Ultra 25-06 for Christmas... mounted a Redfield 4-12X40 with the Warne Maxima mounts. I had a chance to get to the range today under less than ideal conditions with the cold and wind... but my new gun shot just under two inches for a three shot 100 yard group with 120 Core-Lokts. Not all that bad for a brand new gun in 20 mph winds... I'd hunt with it in the morning if I had to,,, heck maybe I will!!

just my opinion, don't write off rem ammo yet. make sure to read faq's on accuracy in handi's[clean/dry latch shelf, etc.] and give barrel time to break in. wouldn't get too excited over grouping 'til get at least 100 rds. down the tube. and then, like earlier said, cover faq's and get everything to best advantage on gun. have fun getting to know your handi!!! regards, jather....

I got a inch group but only fired 2 rounds cause I need the rest for hunting. 120 corelocts, has anyone used 110. Winchester accubonds and how did they do. Are the good for bear or no. Thanks

The 25-06 with appropriate bullets is a fine black bear round. Premium bullets not required but a worth while consideration. Big game bullets for the 25 start at 100 grains.

Black bears are not especially hard to kill, but lat in the year when the fat is heavy they are known to produce poor blood trails. So most prefer a caliber and POI that anchors them.

ok i have a 308, well actually my dads, but i love my 25-06 and would love to hunt bear with it. So what would you recomend. I will be in pa and the fall. Most go 300 lbs normal, with the exception of a bunch of biggins.
