Rimfire ol buddy, I would wholeheartedly agree with Bingo and Airsporter. True, this may not have been what you had thought about but you now have a butt kickin' woods rifle in the 30-06 league, and when you scope it you might be very surprised as to how accurate these things are.
You mentioned not liking the looks of the ATI bolt conversion but the practicality of the conversion with a scope often outweighs a lot of disfavor. If you want to play with it a bit see if it is bedded and if not, bed the action - those stocks were not known for their tight fit. I have bedded a couple of beaters like that and the improvements are immediate.
