SB2 for 12 ga rifled slug barrels?
« on: December 27, 2010, 09:07:26 AM »
My son asked me what reciever we need for the 12 Ga. rifled slug barrel... I am in the habit of calling it a handi, but with a shotgun is it still a handi? I read somewhere that the heaviest 10 guage and some 12 ga were on a different type frame. So please correct me if a SB2 is ok or do we need the special heavy shotgun reciever, and what style/model would it be called if it isn't SB2. Thank you, thejanitor

See this thread just down the page. Handi is short for Handi-rifle which is kinda self explanatory.  ;)

H&R has several rifled slug models, you can tell what frame they come on by the model number, the 12ga USH come on SB2 shotgun frames, the ULSH comes on an SB1.

Keep in mind the 12 ga. with slugs is a visious kicking beast and that heavy USH soaks some of that up. Im 6'1" and 205# and would much rather have it in a 20ga. than my 12 at 5.25#. I have a 'slip-on' recoil pad over the factory RP and put a pound of buckshot in the buttstock bolt hole, which throws off the balance but helps 'a little'.\
The 20 will do the job and will fit the frame the same.
