napolitano says body scans and groping are here to stay.

Quote
Airline passengers should get used to invasive full body scans and enhanced pat-downs, the Homeland Security secretary suggested Sunday.
CNN’s Candy Crowley asked Janet Napolitano if she expected changes to the controversial Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening procedures in the near future.
“Not for the foreseeable future,” Napolitano replied.
“You know we’re always looking to improve systems and so forth, but the new technology, the pat-downs — just objectively safer for our traveling public,” she said.

About 70 airports have put into use more than 400 backscatter x-ray machines that can see beneath passengers’ clothing. Passengers who set off a metal detector or body scan machine or refuse to be scanned receive an invasive physical pat down.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said it received over 900 complaints from travelers in November who were subjected to the new screening procedures of the TSA.
“Under the newly implemented enhanced pat-down, a TSA officer slides his or her hands over an individual’s breasts, buttocks, groin, and inner thighs, and inserts his or her fingers inside the entire circumference of the pant’s waistband,” a lawsuit filed against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and TSA administrator John Pistole stated.

now who are you voting for?is it janet and the get along gang of hoodlums....or do you see a change{pun intended} for 2012?

Maybe they'll go away when she does. But there's a lot of money in perpetuating this sort of thing. Just go to Washington DC and see the big money being spent on security in places where there never was tight security before 9/11. That was the most effective single attack in human history, making D-day look ineffective by comparison. Gotta hand it to those attackers. They sure know how to make their enemy fight themselves and lose.

Let's keep in mind that TSA is a GW Bush artifact, and is a product of a knee-jerk reaction to expand government enormously.

the TSA is a joke and what they are doing is a joke. People are buffaloed into thinking that the TSA is actually doing something to protect us.
Chris Liu, the 10 year veteran pilot that exposed the TSA for what they are, a farce. Basically what he showed on the video he took, is that while flight crews have to go through the TSA screening, ground crews gain access with a mere swipe of a security card. Chris Liu was paid a visit from four federal air marshals and two sheriff's deputies. Not only was his federally issued firearm (authorized to be carried in the cockpit by none other than the TSA) confiscated, he was asked to surrender his state-issued permit to carry a concealed weapon. He exposed a threat to airport security, so they treated him like a threat. TSA should be thanking him instead. The TSA thought, how dare this pilot tell the truth and expose us for what we really are.
While the TSA gropes old men, women, and young children. the ground crews have liberty. It all kind of fits how government does things. Then we have the brilliant minded Janet telling us that we are covered with protection 364 days a year.

The TSA was nothing more than a feel good showing. What president is now going to take responsibility for laying off that many people? More jobs may very well be pseudo-security forces in our streets. Papers please.  Profiling, a real solution.

I'll drive.

Same here.  With the takeoff delays and whatnot it seems to not be much quicker to fly on the same coast anyways.  Combine that with the fact that anything that you can drive in say, 12 hours or less (ie, just in one straight trip so no hotel needed during drive) is cheaper to drive too.

If I can ever get my own plane I may just start flying myself.  Got my PPL, but the cost to rent planes makes renting for travel purposes unreasonable (since you're paying each day even when not using the plane).  That's assuming that they don't kill general aviation or tax it out of reach.  It's not as out front as the gun issue as there are fewer private pilots than gun owners, but general aviation is under much of the same attacks as gun ownership.  Not only the "terrorist" scares, but also people wanting to shut down small airports due to noise complaints and the like.

Guys, I'm an ugly old fat man.  If they want to look at my naked body, have at it.  Don't hurt me one bit.  I've been patted down by the Isrealies, Turks, and the Bouncers at English Night Clubs, so that does not hurt me one bit either.  If it makes for a safer plane ride, so be it.  Feel away, TSA.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

The TSA hasn't stopped one terroist since it was formed.  It is straining at a nat and swallowing the camel of the southwestern border.  If they would classify terroists as serial killers, then we could profile the potential terroists only.  Spend the money on more border patrol agents and use stimulus money on building the border wall.
