That was my problem BB getting them to cooperate. I was hunting with my 58 huntsman saw a lot of deer nothing in range. Take the 25-06 and kill an 8 point at 50 yards. I got one more tag so maybe the 58 will get one yet. Good luck bud.

Oh No Mr. Bill, don't pull the plug!!!

I did not get out with the ML this season, no deer around for one thing...I did however get a Camo Lam ML forearm from the classifieds here and put it in my Huntsman with the full length barrel (not my shorty). I matched it up with a Camo Lam Thumbhole from Boyds and it lines up great with the iron sights, and it looks nice as well. If I can I would like to get to the range with it someday....<><....:)

with the restrictions placed on the forum, it is tough to get a thread going.  The talk of shutting it down, and moving the threads to the modern inline ml forum  has been around for a while.  Personally I hope it stays.  There ave been other forums with no more traffic.

We are a niche group there is really only so much stuff that we can talk and with very little ever new with these rifles the topics are pretty limited. There are still quite a few of us with hunting seasons open. I just got back from a 4 day doe hunt here in IL. I have not heard of any talk or been informed about closing us down for lack of traffic there are many other areas that can be trimmed if need be before us. Hope everyone had a fine Christmas celibration and that you all have a great New Year. Kurt

I love my Sidekick. Each year I only shoot enough to practice before the Ohio ML season. With 295 PB hp bullet and two pellets, plus the unmentionable primer plug/209 primer I am dead on out to 75yds. I have taken one 10 pt. with this combo already. Using a Nikon 2x7 scope.  maybe this year after deer season I will experiment with some other loads, loose powder and see what I can really do with this rifle. It just gets neglected in my safe!

The trigger in my Sidekick is gone. New it was one of best triggers I ever have had. Now my USH 12ga. has a terrible trigger even after a trigger job. I put the Sidekick trigger in the USH and haven't switched back. I need another good trigger!
RIP Mike. Died on July 14th, around 2am, with his family at his side, he went peacefully to be with god.

I managed to take a young doe at 30 yards, using the Hornady 350gr M/L FPB bullet. This happened about 2 weeks ago and the little deer was being chased by a young 4 point. The doe dropped in her tracks and the little buck just stood there and watched her do her final twitching about. I had to spook him to make him leave, also there was plenty of snow on the gound during this short evening hunt.

BB the latest 4 day hunt was mostly a bust as we had 55* snowcover ,fog ,rain then a drop below 20* that started the freeze again. Had 2 deer cut across in front of me at about 40yrds but could barley see there bodies in the fog so I passed then on 1/1/11 I jumped a big doe layed up along the river bank she cut across the "horseshoe" about 150yrds and jumped off the river bank there and broke thru the ice on the bank she got out of that but tried to cross the river and it was open in the middle by about 20' and could not get back out of the water I watched her for about 40 minutes heartbroken knowing she was not going to make it when she started to get sucked under the ice that was froze all the way across the river she had one leg on the ice and just her head showing I got within about 25yrds and shot her in the head. I just could not stand it any more . I know it happens all the time as we find them stuck in the log jams in the spring but it was very hard to see it happen. Anyway I walked down to the next opening in the ice and she popped out but still in the middle. I walked the bank down about a half mile watching her come and go hoping that when she got down by the end of our property where the big bend is it was still open by the bank but when she came around a big log jam she went under and I believe got wedged between the ice and the bottom. I did not see her again. Some may think what a waste but I know she will feed the fish and can attest to that by the deer toe that I got hanging on the mantel that came out of the belly of a 17# flathead. I get one more chance the 14-16 Jan.  I got 1 shot gun and one ML tag left. Kurt

Kurt,

Sorry you didn't get the doe but thanks for the good hunting story.  Gotta love those flathead catfish, my dad used to catch them using sunfish for bait when I was a little kid.  Those fish always made me laugh, great big fish with little bitty eyes. ;D  Good luck on your hunt in mid Jan.
