Minnesota--Is Mojo Critters and electronic calls legal?
« on: December 31, 2010, 07:20:23 PM »
Is it legal to hunt varmints in MN using a Mojo Critter or like a Foxpro or Johnny Walker game call.  I know you can't use mojo ducks or anything like that for duck hunting or electronic calls for other types of hunting so I was wondering if anyone knows the rules for varmint hunting.

Thanks.

Call the DNR, or e-mail them, that way you have confirmation you can use should you get a ticket.

Because if someone on here tells you one thing and you get a ticket, "someone on graybeard outdoors told me I could" isn't going to work as an excuse.

Coyotes are unprotected animals in MN, you don't even need a license to hunt them, they can be killed all year, and the rifle restrictions you see on deer hunters don't apply.  Electronic calls and decoys are used, but, the DNR should always be your go to, for questions regarding laws.

If it is legal, go for it.  I use a Mojo Critter, and it has at least doubled my coyote take.  They seem to fixate on it, and often rush in.  Early morning, or late evening, set up on the edge of a field, they are murder.  Even had a hawk come in and try to take it one time.
