and do aftermarket barrels help? Ive had a hard time getting good accuracy out of 22 mags in the past, but i never had a ruger 77/22 in a mag. If I cant get at least 1/2 " groups @ 50 yds I don't want it.

My Anschutz 141M 22 mag gets that kind of accuracy and while I don't have a 77 in 22 mag, mine is chambered for 17HMR and it will outshoot the Anschutz. The 22 mag is just not a super accurate round in my experience, in ANY rifle.
