How to price these
« on: January 01, 2011, 11:40:20 AM »
I purchased a box lot of reloading supplies and in the box were three boxes of 45/70 cast bullets equalling about 380 bullets. They are plain base and gas checked with the plain base being lubed but the gas checked bullets simply have the check seated. They appear to be cast from Lyman moulds because their profile is identical to bullets in their manual. These were all counted by weight since there can't be much difference when they're over 300 grains. The following is the details.

140..............457191  300 grain
140..............457193  425 grain
100..............457483  380 grain GC

Help me price these.

selling your own cast bullets or someone elses isnt allways an easy thing. Nobody knows the quality. For the most part there about worth the price of the lead. I would say at the most you might get 30 bucks shipped for them.

I don't believe they're home cast, they look about as commercial as any I've seen.

I would say they are going to cost you maybe $500 on up. Obviously now that you have a bunch of 45-70 bullets you need a rifle to shoot them in. At least that is the way it works around here.

You got about 20 pounds of unknown lead, At a $1.00 a pound you got $20.00 worth.
Med. flat rate box about 10 or 11 bux.
So I could see someone paying 30-32 bux for the bullets.

Thanks guys. I think the 300 grain bullets will be resized for my 45 colt and the rest will be melted.

Navigate to the GBO Classifieds and the Reloading Equipment and Supplies Forum [I made it easy.  Here's the link:  http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/board,244.0.html ].

Research the prices and quantities for 45-70 boolets there.  Set your price and post an ad.  Someone may want to buy them from you.
