17m2 shorty???
« on: January 03, 2011, 05:58:49 AM »
Ok now have a survivor stock on the 17m2 but am finding the barrel to be a little on the heavy side.  Has anyone cut one of these down to 18'' yet and/or changed the barrel profile (seems to be a little extra metal there).  Am concerned about affecting the accuracy of this barrel but am finding the current status un-handi.  Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Over on rimfirecentral,a company(Rimfire Technology) did some testing. They seem to think that the17M2 is like the 22.Best speed and powder is gone in 16-17".Don't know beyond what I read over there.Slow

once again it pays to read before I post.  It looks like mine is going to be 18+a little grace to be legal here in the north country.  My 45-70 already got that treatment.  Looks like the 45 colt is going to be my long barrel handi rifle.   Thanks for the input.
