« on: December 15, 2003, 02:01:51 PM »
i have a ss bulberry 280 rem barrel in rifle length.frame will fire without barrel in( a blue encore frame) but if i put it in it doesnt even think about it nor will it break easily. its a s hard as the super old(1978) contender frames. maybe harder. what do you think could be the problem???please reply. note i did add a belm spring but it appears to function properly. out of the frame the barrels lugs feel super strong?? if i put the barrel in the frame and no hinge ping it does function?? will cock and fire. jcrawley@cox.net :(

Sounds like the frame or the barrel are out of tolerance.  Do you have a friend or gunshop with another Encore frame?  If so have them install the 280 barrel on that frame.  If the same problem arises, send the barrel back to Bullberry and they will take care of it.  If the other frame works, send the frame back to TC and they will take care of it.

Just my thoughts,
Kyle

Its common practice by all the custom shops to put stronger bolt springs in the thumpers.   Sounds like the barrels locking bolts to me, you need to go smaller on that frame.   Try fitting another set, and don't forget they come in several "numbers".   Also you might want to try another barrel on the frame - if it works OK then go back to the bolt change on the 280 bbl.

heh heh look at me... surrounded by contender barrels yet only the  dang encore ,was one that wouldnt work.5Redman8 was close also i think. i put a nib 223 from local store, on it and wallah it was fine. i think the pin hole is not properly drilled, i am debating on whether to correct my self or send it back. thanks ladobe and red. also noted the lug springs seem to be filled with viagra. this is a two part problem. i believe i will send the barrel back to bul.berry thanks a lot fellas. john
