Three Stooges and adversity
« on: January 05, 2011, 07:23:42 AM »
When things get hectic, I still find that watching The Three Stooges cheers me up and I really laugh out loud. It's a lot funnier when I'm feeling stressed. (Curly's are the best!)

Huge Stooges fan here. I know the word "classic" is tossed around pretty freely these days, but in my opinion the Stooges are definately classics.  Love 'em.

People nowadays say they are violent and a bad example for kids. The same people that buy their kids violent blood and guts video games and send their kids off to their rooms using the games as baby sitters! We grew up loving the Stooges and were smart enough to know it was all comedy routines and not to be emulated in real life. Unfortunately kids now play these video games and do try and copy them in reality. The dumb ***ed parents then cry. " Where did I go wrong?" The Stooges taught us what not to do, while making us laugh, and the video games are teaching kids what they shouldn't do yet how to go about doing it! I consider the Three stooges National Treasures.  :)

SPIRITHAWK. Agreed Sir. Kids have been desensitized by all the violence in their lives from tv, videos, games, their so called music, etc. They can't seem to seperate entertainment from reality. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

3 Stooge's are definetly classics. I remember as a kid, the shows were already 30 years old,(they were made in the late '30's and '40's). I remember somebody claiming that kids would poke their eyes out, or really hit one another with hammers. Don't ever remember that ever happening.
And, compared to the junk they call comedy nowdays,(Jackass shows, and the cussing and swearing skits) these guys will live forever. My 2 boys spent a couple hours on a recent Sat. watching a 3 Stooge's marathon. Here it is almost 70 years later, and their still making people laugh. gypsyman

Curly was okay, but I think Chimp was the best. Or was it Shimp? ::) Make that Shemp! He was, "I believe" the real life brother of Moe, and one of the originals.

After research........Curly was the third brother. Larry was the only stooge not related. Larry was also a concert violinist.
Talented bunch of stooges,  lol! Shemp was first, retired and then inter Curly. Later Curly became Ill, and Shemp returned.

Another group of talented Jewish brothers were, the Marx Bro's. Groucho, Harpo, and Chico.

Moe, Shemp, and Curly were all brothers and although their stage name was Howard their real name was Horowitz. Curly was first, but a stroke put him out of the act.  There was some reluctancy on the part of Stooges management to put Shemp in the act, due to his resemblace to Moe, but at Moe's insistance he was brought in. Following Shemp was Joe Besser, and in my opinion, the worst of the lot. He was the one that acted like a fag. He was eventually replaced by Joe DeRita, who's character was Curly Joe. He didn't appear in the shorts, he was in the full length films.
Larry Fine,(Feinstein) was no relation. He met The Howards on the Vaudeville circuit.
Moe wrote a wonderful book about the Stooges called "Moe Howard and the Three Stooges", and it is a must read for any Stooges fan.

I think I stand corrected on the order, according to NW Hunter.

                         Gentlemen,

I always suspected the Stooges were jews but was never sure.
Now Larry is real jew-looking and Moe's name???
  Hmmm...
  But yup, I always suspected,
but now that I read the post of mauser98
I have little doubt.
Dern...

It was my attempt to compliment them, not disparage them . Maybe it did not come out right.

             Mauser98us,

I understood your meaning and it was clear.
No, 'I' was 'the one' disparaging them.
I watched the Stooges all my life and am an authority on Ayn Rand.
Being older now and my mind-set well...set,
I am sorry I ever watched the Stooges or read Ayn Rand.

The Stooges were very funny and Ayn Rand very thoughtful.
I read Atlas Shrugged 13 times, but in 33 years, 5 paid me in full and on time
and I can prove this in court with my business records.
And 5 others won't last a year in prison after 3 failed murder attempts and the conspiracy charge.
It's been 4 years and I got another $1900. hospital bill yesterday for cervical stabilization sessions.
It's not funny.

I can't really talk about this because the trial is not finished.
I have however written a book about the situation and it is a good one.
I spend 41 years working on the book, 10 years full time.
'I ain't doing it for money but for revenge'.
'Glory and blood too'.

              Thank you...
