is there a way to get a new production run?
« on: January 05, 2011, 04:01:38 PM »
Is there a way my ffl who is a maroon dealer can order like a 09'2010 or this year made gun?  I want to go end of this month and buy a another 10 Ga watefowk model comes with screw in modified choke. They already have one up there but it doesn't have chokes its probably older than 2005 I guess. But if I can't get the newer browning invector choke ones then ill wont buy one.  Also I thinking of giving my turkey model to my little cousin if I get a he's one.  He loves the 10 Ga so does every one else who shot it
In theory its sound ",but in practice its flawed

Nope, your dealer is at the mercy of what the distributor has in stock, best advice is to have your dealer contact other distributors to see what they have in stock.

You might look into finding another dealer in your area if you're not happy wit the one you've been using. If you go to some of the auction sites they will have a list of dealers that will handle transactions that you can look through. You might find one in your area by searching that way that you didn't know about.

And, FWIW, you dont actually need a 'gunshop', just someone in your area who has the required FFL to be the receiving 'dealer' and complete the paperwork for you to pick up. Individuals who do this usually have a nominal fee. About every community has someone like this; ask around of your shooting friends. Some hardware stores that sell guns and ammo do this too. Here ACE does, just ask what their terms are to receive a gun for you.
Generally you can make the arraingments, pay the dealer you buy from, have 'your guy' FAX them a copy of his FFL to ship to, and have him call you when it shows up.
If you find somebody like this who treats you good buy some other stuff from them too.

Well there is a farmer here who is on the volunteer fire dept with my dad who just got his ffl ill ask him.  There's a gunshop up the road from here and he's a class 3 but you can't tell if you ain't gonna spend 1k atleast he doesn't likecto be bothered. I email a online retail store they have 4 in stock I asked if they had screw in chokes.  Im waiting for a reply.

Plug your zipcode into one of these FFL locator services as Rusty suggested to see who's available, give them a call and see if they're still licensed and how much they charge, it doesn't get any simpler than that.

Call the FFL and ask what they need for you to get a gun shipped to them. They may say you can pay for it at the selling dealer (Ive done some with a card, some with a USPS-money order) and the seller will require a copy of the receiver's FFL to ship to. When it comes in you complete the transfer forms and pay the fee the receiver and you have agreed upon.
