Are they still not fitting barrels to rifles with NM prefixes? They don't say anything about that in their information, as what's listed in red on the FAQ.

The info in the FAQ is still valid, they will only fit '96-'99 SB2 frames with 357mag, 44mag and shotgun barrels, they also won't fit any high pressure * marked(on the acc barrel list) barrels to SB2 frames made prior to 2000.

The Hornet is still available as an accessory barrel at this time, they have about 3 dozen barrels in stock as of this morning, 22" blue standard barrel, drilled & tapped for scope base, part# F224, probably $96 like all the other standard barrels. For how long they don't know, there have been chamberings that were discontinued as complete rifles before, but were still offered as accessory barrels for years, the 357mag was discontinued as a rifle for many years, but was always available as an accessory barrel, the 450 Marlin was the same way until it was totally discontinued when they ran out of acc barrels a year or two ago. Why they made the 222 Rem, no one knows, they just showed up in Ilion, who or why they were ordered is a mystery to H&R service.

I called H&R last week and they said the 35 whelen 22" barrel not available. I have a handi 45/70 and want to get the 35 whelen barel. are pretty sure the 35 whelen barrel avail?

Same applies to either of the 35 Whelen barrels, you talked to Madison CS, the barrels are in Ilion NY.

I've had my 45-70 for i think 3 years and it mis fires every so often, can i write this on the form to upgrade the trigger as i've heard they've been fixing for some rifles?

I'd put the misfire info on the form, but I'd also put a tag on the trigger guard so the gunsmith will be sure to see it, that used to work at Gardner I think, maybe Brian will offer advice.

Tim, I'm new to this forum, but I appreciate the information. The question I have is how do I order the 50 cal Huntsman barrel? I called H&R 1871 about a week ago, and checked their website. On the website, it stated that the black powder barrels are not available at this time. When I called them, they told me the same thing. Am I calling the wrong company? Meaning should I be calling NEF, Remington, or H&R 1871, instead? Any help would be appreciated. I have been trying to get either a Sidekick muzzle loader, or a Huntsman barrel for my Handi-rifle, or Pardner frame, for quite a while now. If I can't get one, I may eventually have to break down and pick up a NEF Handi-rifle lookalike, like the CVA Wolf.

Yes, that's all I ever sent in, just order a stock set too. A frame can be shipped for $5 in a small flat rate priority mail box, add a couple $ for insurance.

I dunno, try it and see what happens, I know some members didn't send stock sets to Gardner to avoid damage in fitting and shipping and it worked, but I dunno if Ilion will, they might charge for installing and removing the stock for test firing it, maybe Brian can answer that question.

THIS THREAD stinks ! You guys have got it easy . Here in Aus if we want an accessory barrel for a Handy we have two options. buy a used Handi barrel (rare as rocking horse s#*@t ), or make one from another "donor" rifle barrel. I want a 7.62x39 barrel to add to my SB2 .22 hornet. Luckily .303 barrels are plentiful and suit the short Russian perfectly . I just have to make the rest of the bits.

And my Missus wonders why I spend so much time in my shed .

It will work on any H&R SB2 frame made since 1987, although they won't fit one to any frame made 1996-1999, give em a call to find out if they have any, (866)776-9292.

I called Cust. Service 2 days ago, as I wanted a new style syn. stock. Got the correct part numbers, prices for stocks.
I then asked if they had any 357 Mag. barrels in either 22 or 183/4 inch barrels, to which the rep said none in stock.
So this morning sent in frame for stocks and hopefully a 357 Mag barrel. I put down first and second choice. Now the
waiting begins.

Been looking to pick up a .35 Whelen ever since I backed off on my last order in 2003, 10 barrels, .........then it went missing.

That's a good question, they've been told about it more than once!

There are no .375" chamberings, the discontinued 38-55 is as close as they've made, it requires at much bigger bullets to shoot well, .379" jacketed or .380" and bigger cast.

I just sent two to get two barrels each. one is getting 35 rem and a fluted 243, the other is 7.62x39 and a 243 fluted. We will see how that goes.
