CVA eclipse
« on: January 06, 2011, 12:36:37 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these rifles and wondering what our best load-up has been.  I haven't been able to find any good loads, best I have been able to pull up is 2.5in 100yrd groups.  My biggest problem with it is I got sight it in one day then the next go back out and be off by as much as a foot or more.  I have been throwing around getting a slug gun, but I would still like to keep this gun viable for M/L season to give me an extra weekend for deer season.

could be your scope  i know 2.5 at 100 yards isnt the best but its not bad just have to play with your loads some more to try and get a tighter group

i went from using a m/l scope to using a shotgun scope with no change  so far best groups where from cheap t/c sabots from wally and 80grns of pyrodex.  385grn powerbelt hollow points did about 3in at 100 but didnt get to do much playing with those.   This summer  im gonna try to play with some different sabots and powder.   As far as after thee range it doesnt seem to matter if i cheap the gun or not its usually off  although on a couple times i did notice the first clean cold bore shot tended to be the most accuarte but wasnt not always the case  also  when i was sitting it in there was usually my step-dad and possible a couple other guys so it was getting several minutes between shots

Somerhing ekse i want to add is that until i got here one thing i never did was close my eye to check for drift do to muscle tension   this could cause the poi impact to change  but that should cause problems evertime  where it obly effects it for that day and im able to resight and be good for the day    also i had the same problem off hand  but that could come from being under tension on the rest and not when offhand

Could be the action moving around in the stock.  One of my T-C's had similar problems to what you described.  Bedding did the trick.  Put your scope on a rifle that kicks and see if it does the same thing.  Try tightening your stock bolts gorilla tight and don't remove the barrel a few times, that will prove the stock.
