So it's ok on a riffle (long barrel) but on a revolver the smaller .223 barrel will give lesser accuracy?

I've rechambered 22lr barrels to 22 Mag and the accuracy was just fine.  Larry

The factoriessdo it the other way, putting a 22 mag barrel on a gun meant to use either the 22lr or the 22mag. Still I believe that rechambering a rifle from 22lr to a 22mag would likely work ok. Be aware though that pressures are very certain to be higher than the mag would produce in a properly sized barrel. If there action is capable of handling the 22mag normally it should work ok.

Why not just shoot 22 WRF ammo in your 22 mag? I chrono'ed some a few months ago & my FPS was lower than most 22lr ammo. It shoots fine in a 22 mag chamber.

The question concerned rechambering a 22lr to the 22mag.

Tough question. LR is .222. .22 Mag??? .224? As far as forcing the larger bullet and jacketed thru the barrel, probably no noticeable effect unless you are shooting high level match... Then, too sloppy. At the same time, there is a discussion among barrel makers, the long rifle shoots lead bullets while the mag has a jacketed bullets. Simply put, the makers don't spend extra on steel for jacketed bullets with the long rifle family and its lead bullets... You go to a jacket bullet and rifling does not last as long. Had a smith tell me he had seen shout out micro groove barrels... Marlin/Mossberg. And in the days of the "new" Hornet, silly people would shoot the new ammo in the .22 WCF rifles (same case, lead bullet, black powder) and had a smooth bore in no time... Yes, you can. Should you? Your pocket  book. Luck.
