Browning citori Question?????

Does anyone the value of this gun it is a browning citori 12Gauge 30" barrels and stamped in the barrel it says "special Steel" I could not find special steel listed anywhere. it is chambered for 2-3/4 and 3". And has a full and modified choke.

Also down by Dayton there is  Old Enghish gunshop. Either place can look and give you a value

I have been looking for a Citori but am not that familiar with all the differences

Hard to value a shotgun sight unseen.  It sounds like you have a basic hunting model since you say you have 3" chambers.  You say Mod and Full rather than removeable chokes, so that marks it as an eary model.  The original ones had fixed chokes, then came Invector chokes, then came invector Plus chokes.  The earliest Citori's had no receiver engraving, but there were some fixed choke, engraved receivers.  (I have a Skeet model that way.)  All things considered, I'd hazard a guess that it's worth $800 and down, depending on how tight the lockup is, condition of the wood, presence of receiver engraving.  You can date your Citori by going to:

Condition means a LOT. But the last one similar to what you appear to have I purchased for $600. Condition dropped the price some but it sure was a good shooter. Wish I hadn't traded it off later as I shot it a lot better than the one I traded it on.

When I retired I traded it and an American Arms 28 ga. on a new Citori Golden Clays Special Sporting Clays gun and a Citori 28 Ga. Skeet gun. Couldn't hit a bull in the butt with that fancy one with the gold but me and the 28 ga. sure got a long well. Traded off the Golden Clays gun within weeks of buying it. Shot the 28 ga. a long time before selling it to my best friend who is now deceased. His step son still shoots it.

BTW for the record I got $1000 in trade on the two guns I traded in. Dunno exactly how the dealer figured it but I figured it at $700 for the Citori and $300 for the American Arms. Either way it was more than I had put in the two of them together when I bought them.

You know, you could almost start a new thread on "the guns I wish I hadn't traded away in my quest for the one I thought I wanted more but not after I actually owned it."  Another thread could be the ones I let slip through my fingers.

They are all special steel.

If Grade I Field, solid choke, 400 - - - 750 depending on condition.
