BELT CLIP
« on: January 07, 2011, 04:33:57 PM »
Im thinking about buying a keltec for conceal carry. I was wondering if the belt clips that keltec makes work well. What are the pros and cons of the clips?

I have a belt clip on my P-32. You can get one for either side depending on how you like to carry it with the grip pointing one way or the other, left or right. I also have a PF-9 but I carry it in a holster.

Pros - It's a handy way to carry on your belt or waist of your pants. Can also slip it into your pocket with the clip holding it in position for a fairly easy draw. The clips are handy as said.

Cons - If carried on your belt or the outside of your pants the trigger is exsposed. Now, it does have a long trigger pull so not likely to fire accidently but crap happens. You have to remain aware it's exsposed such as if you're working on something or walking through brush.

The clips are nice to have as long as you use your brain. :) Hard to beat Kel Tec for a conceal carry firearm.

How do you like that holster king. Looks like it will work good. Did you buy the small for the keltec?

The Holster Kings Universal Holster is awesome. Very comfortable and versatile. I sometimes wear it inside the waist and sometimes out. I have a laser I sometimes put on my PF-9 and it handles it as well. No, I wish I had bought the smaller one too. The guy at the gun show offered two holsters for $30 and one for $20. I'm kicking myself for not buying two. Heck though, the P-32 even will ride well in the big one though I don't carry it like that. I carry my P-32 in a Fobus paddle holster most of the time. The PF-9 on my right side and P-32 on the left. Very easy to conceal even when carrying both. A jacket or any shirt worn untucked hides them completely. I also have a wallet holster and a kinda unique nylon holster I sometimes use depending on where I'm going and extent of need for concealment.

Belt clips are something that is personal preference.  I used one for a while and it allowed me to carry my P3AT with the clip or in a pocket holster.  I have since gone to pocket holster carry only.
The belt clips are relatively inexpensive so I recommend buying one and trying it. If you do not like it, simply take it off and use the pin and screw that comes with the clip rather than trying to replace the pin.

I carry a Kel-Tec P11 with a belt clip almost daily (the other days I carry a S&W j-frame in a OWB pancake holster or IWB sheath holster).  The P11 I carry inside my waste band with the belt clip clipped to the waste band of my pants under my belt on my right side at about the 4:00 possition.  I wear a tucked in "wife beater" to protect my hide from the checkering on the grip and to keep body oils and sweat off of the gun. I wear an untucked golf/polo shirt over top to conceal the grip which is about all that sticks up above my waste band.  I find it to be very comfortable, very concealable and easy to access quickly.  I cannot think of any cons, at least not for me.

One of my P3As has the belt clip. Carry it daily IWB support side. It's secure, and comfortable. It's easy to forget you're wearing it. It's a little slow to get into action, but conceals about as well as a pistol can.
