Because of my bad eye sight I have pretty well given up on stock work. The checkering on that forearm was done by a friend of mine who recently had a stroke and he can't do anymore checkering either. Him and I are just getting too old for good work. Doing work on stocks without checkering is just poor
and amaturish, and poor checkering is even worse.
Reshaping a B forearm is realy quite easy and simple so any good stockmaker could do it. You could also get Ruger to supply you a new one, but you would have to send the gun to Ruger. I did rebarrel a 243 B to a 7x57 send the barreled action to Ruger and they installed an AH forearm and matched it nicely.
Ruger supplied AH forearm on a 7x57 take off Barrel. A very accurate shooting rifle.
