Bushnell 3200 and 4200 Elites price reduction
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:49:56 AM »
Recently prices have been reduced on Bushnell's 3200 and 4200 Elite series of scopes.  Seems Bushnell is changing the scopes in the Elite line and the 3200 and 4200 series is being discontinued.  So, prices have been reduced significantly on them by a number of internet rifle scope sellers.....good bargains available.

As a matter of fact, I was just at Academy and they had the 3-9x40  3200 for $139.  If anyone is interested.

Yes, it is the end of an era for the 3200 and 4200 series,  Sometime next year.  The new series will be a new and improved version of the 4200. which will be simply Elite Series.  No more 3200 or 4200 s.  The new Elites will be Fully Multicoated, purged and filled with argon gas instead of nitrogen and probably some other bells and whistles as well.  Plus the excuse to raise the price, so I would keep an eye out for those deals and they will surely be out there.
I personally think they lost a lot of customers when they re-labled them from Bausch and Lomb to Bushnell.
 Hope this helps

Both of my Encores, one pistol and one rifle, are wearing 3200 Elite Firefly's. Excellent scopes. I'm wanting to put together another Encore rifle. Reckon I need to snatch another 3200 up while the price is right.

I was blown away when I saw the elite 3200 10X for sale for $150.  I haven't seen them that low in a long time and I'm sure they could probably be found for a little less.  I just bought a 4200 6-24x with the target knobs recently and the only reason I was able to do it was the price drop.

at a 140 bucks the 3200 3x9 is probably the best bang for the buck in a scope a guy could find. Wish i could afford to buy a half a dozen of them to stash away.

I ordered 3 4200s the day after Natchez announced the clearance.  That makes 7 that I have and I think two more are in order "just in case."  Excellent glass.

I"ve got a 3200 3-9X40 on my Encore muzzleloader and a 4200 4-16X40 on my .223 barrel.  I have been completely satisfied with the scopes thus far.  So much so that I recently snatched up another 3200 for another project.  Now I have a dilemma.  I'd like to have one more for another rifle that I know I'll have done in the next year or so.  The deals are too good to pass up but the stocks that retailers have seem to be fading fast.

Personally, I think that Bushnell may be making a mistake here.  I've already seen some retailers listing the new "Elites" and the prices seem to be in the 4200 range, not the 3200.  I think they'll loose quite a bit of the customer base that can't afford the higher prices and had been more than satisfied with the 3200's.

I just ordered a 4200 3x9 myself. At 200 bucks it is the optics buy of the century in my opinion.

Midsouth has the Elite 3200 pistol 2x6x32mm for $209.  Can't believe Cabela's and some of the other retailers haven't lowered their prices.  I got one comin' from Midsouth.... ;D

I sold a gun then bought it back and when it came back it had a 3200 on it.  I just mounted it on another rifle and though I haven't shot it yet, I tell ya what, the sucker looks awful nice looking thru it.. :D

I may have to whip the plastic out and order a couple while they last.  I have a forty dollar bushnell 4x that I killed two deer with this year on my .260 but I'm smitten with this 3200.

I just placed an order at Cabelas for one of the Elite 4200 3-9X40mm scopes at $199.  I was going to go with the 3200 in the same size at $139 off of another site, but I figured I'd try the 4200.

Ranger - you'll love that 4200, I have had one  on my Encore 209x50 for the past two deer seasons, and they are sweet.  I think I paid around $250 for mine when I bought it then.  In my opinion, they are every bit as good as the Nikon Buckmaster, just maybe a notch under the Monarch line.  Great scope for the $$$$!

I've hunted quit a bit with the 3x9x40 Elite and never a problem.  Until last season. After stalking nearly a half mile terminating in a
lengthy belly crawl, I set up for a prone shot. The buck was standing but started walking toward my left. I adjusted the rifle but in the process the eye piece got closer to my eye. When I touched off the shot, the buck went down. The eye piece made a circular cut in my forehead. Five stitches and an interesting scar.  I had always mounted scopes for a full field but no closer. I have now adjusted my
Bushnells to less than full field to provide more distance. After many years of hunting, I can now boast a cookie cutter shaped scar over my right eyebrow. Next time I buy a scope I will pay more attention to eye relief.

While they are excellent scopes, they do not measure up to the Monarchs in several critical performance areas, including edge-to-edge sharpness and the ability to resolve fine detail under low-light, low-contrast situations.

I love my 3200 2-7 x 32mm . I use Weaver lever-lock Rings and weaver steel bases on my mod seven and swap between
my Bushnell 3200 2-7 x 32mm and my Burris 4.5-14x32 without skippin a beat.

heres my take on it. Ive got brand a brand new 4200 3x9 and a brand new monarch 2x10 sitting here. Both are good clear scopes and last night i gave them along with my vx3 3.5x10  the low light test and to be honest it was to close to call. Same with eye relief, both are about identical .One advantage to the nikon i can see is it has less distortion around the edges but you can buy one right now for a 100 bucks less then the nikon so price advantage definatley goes to the bushnell. Both are real good scopes though that i personaly would be proud to have on any gun. I do feel my 3.5x10 vx3 leupold has better performance in low light, absoultely no distortion around the edges and again about identical eye relief but then it cost a 100 bucks more then even the nikon and should. If money was no object id place them in this order leupold, nikon, bushnell but then to most money does matter and like i said your getting a great scope with any of the three and ill add one more thing. For even less money the 3200 i have sure isnt junk when put along side any of these three. The low light test had it beating my old vari x 2 leupolds and was about a toss up against a new vx2. Dont know about durablility compared to the vx2 though. I havent had one long enough to say. I know that the old varix 2 leupolds i have have never let me down.

IMO the Monarch's better; I have both (4200, 3200; and Monarch.) Nikon's side-focus is much better than the B-nell, also:  less "coarse" and less lash. If you don't pay list price for the Bushnell, however, the field is leveled somewhat.

i looked long and hard for a really good scope for my 30-06. i basically had it down to the nikon buckmaster 4.5x14x40.upon doing a series of price check i saw natchez had the elites on clearence and i went with the 3200 elite 4x12x40 instead. with the dropped price it was 25.00 less than the nikon. also a big plus with me was the rainguard and guess what guys it works.had it been original price i would gone nikon all the way.
