I tend to leave the modern world behind when I'm out hunting. No cell phone, no computer, no games , no Ipad ...
I do however carry a note pad and pen ,but then I always carry those.  I tried carrying a phone while hunting when I was running wreckers full time.
Nothing will ruin your day worse than being at half draw on a Tom turkey and having the dang phone go off.
And nothing ruins the mood worse than a cell phone going off while your setting in the woods waiting on bushy tails with a flintlock resting across your lap.
Besides these obvious distractions how will you ever see that bobcat and her cubs slip by or that kestrel land on the limb of your bow ... if your figgiting with them dang modern inconveniences.

There is no getting away from the modern world when my hunting spot is next to 200 ft cell phone tower.
4 miles to the east is the county courthouse; 4 miles to the west is a Walmart and a Publix.

I like having the cell phone when I am climbing, in case I need to call my wife to come get me down.
