What do you mostly shoot with your handguns????????

 ;)  The last couple evenings I was reading SIXGUNS by Keith...His stories of shooting jacks, hawks, eagles, and assorted other varmits with various handguns made me think about handgun shooting today...Just a few days ago, we drove from southern Wy. to southern Montana and back..I probably didn't see a half dozen jacks hit on the road..one coyote slipping though the rocks.. many ravens, hawks and eagles..but they are no longer vermin..made me think about my handgun shooting..lately, most of my handgun rounds have been fired at water filled plastic jugs..in the summer I shoot a few prairie dogs with my handguns, but not many..made me wonder what do folks shoot most of their handgun ammo at these days...?????

I like to shoot a 20# bond, 8 1/2 x 11 when I can find them. Time and location severely limit my roving. Givin my lead I would be a seven stripe ground squirrels worst nightmare, and I do truly hate pine squirrels.

Whatever my range allows, meaning paper targets (and occasionally wooden frames), steel gongs, flippers and silhouettes, and an occasional bowling pin.

Mostly cardboard IDPA targets.  This summer my goal is to find a safe place I can get permission to shoot wood blocks at different ranges, they are nice, biodegradable and reactive targets.  I truly do lament the lack of vermin to target though.  :'(

I think my targets are the best of everybodys I get to shoot the most fears predators to ever come in line of a guys sights!!!  I get to shoot people every weekend!! Lmao I do gunfights lol
I like steel plates, shotgun hulls for a moving target that I can't predict witch way they are going and last but not least the exploding targets are just best bang for buck a piro can gett

I shoot a lot of shotgun empties. Kind of impressive to shoot offhand and to send them flying from 20 yds or so, pretty soon a lot of guys at the range are watching. There's a trick though. Shoot a little low and a spray of dirt hits them kind of like a shotgun.

I hope the grandkids don't read this, you just spilled the beans on my "impress
the kids shot"! Another favorite is to set wormy apples up a slope from you,
shoot them loose and see how many times you can hit them as they roll to you.
It is a little hard on 22 ammo but a kids (and kids at heart) favorite. Watch for
bulk ammo sales and be ready for apple season, I recommend it!

Unfortunately just paper.  But it has given me a good excuse to go sit in the woods whether I shot anything or not, and that ain't hay!  ;D

Mostly paper and cardboard targets, I go Deer hunting but that ends up mostly walking and setting without shooting! 8)

At the range steel and paper targets , one range just stopped the use of steel targets so I will not be a member any longer . No its not just the target thing , the guy who runs it has gotten more in the mode of its my way or the highway. He told I. Walton org. to take a hike and may end up in court. At home its bottles and any other target that can be safe like clay targets etc. Then there are critters ...............

Paper plates and deer, but I plan to start hunting squirrels & groundhogs a little more often next year.
I am going to give my clubs falling steel plate shoots a go round this spring, I think that would be fun.

I also have a metal reactive target that is tripod shaped that walks when hit with a .22.

Lots of metal swingers, too.

Mostly paper and steel targets...my gun club insists on paper only on the target frames, but does have about 1/2 a dozen hanging steel targets.

We sometimes shoot blocks of wood, just to relieve the boredom of shooting at paper targets. Many of us also shoot clay birds  placed all around the handgun range.

I don't get as much opportunity to hunt as I would like, but I do sometimes hunt with a handgun. I have killed exactly one deer with a handgun and some assorted small game and varmints.

Only Paper targets,  empty soda cans ect.

I taught my kids to only shoot what your going to eat.  Never kill a living thing for fun.  I find abandoned kittens while fishing all the time and i take them in.  I just took in 3 kittens who were born in the wilds and feral,  I tamed them and now i'm part of there family.  No one wanted them after they were trapped because there black.  At my new house(an estate sale) we did have a rodent problem until i got these three brothers, these can earn there keep much better than buying decon.  Safer too i'm not killing any other animals by using posion.   CZY

I don't go to a shooting range. If I take my own targets, it's usually empty soda cans or something I can pick up afterwards and not litter. Never glass!
But most of the time it's just rocks and dirt clods and such. Nature targets of opportunity. Sometimes I go out specificaly for the jackrabbits or prairie dogs.
I used to shoot at golf balls, but they are too much trouble to locate all of them after I'm done shooting. Swat a golf ball with a .45 and sometimes they just disappear. Never to be seen again. I used to shoot the golf balls at the foot of a steep hill. When I hit one with my .45 auto, it would fly up the hill and roll and bounce back down within range for another shot. While the first one was coming back down the hill I could shoot at the others that were scattered around. I could keep going like that for as long as I wanted. That place is no good anymore since they paved the road into it and is not a good place to shoot anymore.

There aren't a lot but there are some old pieces of junk lying around on the public land around here. Things like car bodies, or appliances or oil drums. It's fun to whale away at things like that from extreme looong range. They usually send back a rewarding thwak when hit.

In answer to your question, I guess I'd have to say that mostly I shoot boolits.

I do shot a few bullets now and then, but yep, it is mostly boolits! ;D

Last shot fired was with the 45/70 taking my 2010 Ideeeeeeho whitetail.

I am thinking about shooting, does that count?

Getting to like snow less as I age, but don't like large amounts of people and traffic EVEN LESS!!!!!!!!!!

Boise and Spokane are over the top, waaaaaaaaaaay over the top so heading South is not a happy option!
