I have a Model 11 Remington anyone know anything about this gun it is 12ga has a sguare back like the Browning auto loaders. Did they make other barrels for them? What's it worth both historically and in $ any info appreciated.Kurt

Kurt: I think your Model 11 is the predecessor to the Model 1100. If I am correct, it is an older style semi auto for which parts, including barrels may be scarce. The 'square back' design you mention is characteristic of the older semi auto shotguns. Savage had the same design, I believe. HTH. Mikey.

Nope, Mikey that's the 58. The Model 11 is just the same gun as the Browning Auto Five but made by Remington under a Browning patent after Winchester pissed off the man they had made their name on by refusing to buy his auto loading shotgun patent. It was when J. Browning and Winchester parted ways.

I had heard some of what you say Bill . I have a friend who has a older Auto 5 Browning and when you set both guns next to each other it is very hard to tell them apart. Any idea how many yrs remington made them or what yrs they were made ? Do you know if they made any other barrels for them or who may have barrels? Kurt

Remington made it in a variety of grades and combinations from 1905 to 1949. As far as I know extra barrels were not offered. Ya got what came on it and that's it. I assume any other Model 11 barrel should fit and you might find one somewhere for sale that is off a gun that no longer works. I'm not positive of this but I think I've heard that Browning barrels won't interchange on it.

Thanks Bill since finding this site a few days ago I have come up with more info than I had in the previous 10yrs. You are right about the Browning I think I have heard the same .I have found out tho Savage bbls about 3 differant model #'s will work and I saw a picture of I think it was 520 savage that looked nearly like my 11 same square back or hump back I wonder how many differant guns Browning sold this to before forming his own company? Anyone know of any good books or article on was his name John Browning ? This gun is a great wingshooter and I am looking for another bbl in something other than full choke that is on it works great when I am with myself hunting as I can let them birds get out there a little ways but when I'm with my brothers they got no wait in them and if I shoot I'm puffin feathers big time.Kurt
