Savage Stevens scope bases
« on: January 11, 2011, 03:24:44 AM »
I own two Stevens 200s, I bought both last years, one is in 22-250 the other 308. I want to change the scopes, and have been looking for Dual dove tail bases; I looked on-line as well as a local gun shop. He told me that no one makes them for this rifle yet. I find this hard to believe. Anyone know were I might find them.

??? You didn't say how old your rifles are. Current generation has round rear action, some older ones have flat. The current generation of Stevens 200 (since 2006 & others) takes #46 bases.

Bases can be purchased from Midsouth, Midway, Brownells, Cabelas, Gander Mt., probably even in the very shop where the "gun guy" told you they don't exist, & other sources too numerous to list.  ::)

You said "change scopes". Does this mean you already have scopes setting on rings & bases?

Sorry, but your gun store guy is not the" sharpest marbel in the bag". Hope this helps- Good Luck- Good Shooting- Jim

Finding standard weaver style Bases is not the problem, I am looking for the Dual Dove Tail bases. For these Rifles, both were bought new in 2010.

Sorry, never heard of them. Hopefully I'm going to learn something new on this one. -  ::)

However, another thought. A Stevens 200 "IS" a Savage 10/110 so if they're not made for for the Stevens, they're not made for the Savages eather?

Bases for a Savage 10 (round rear) will work for the Stevens 200 short action,  so just look for them.

Thanks,  Earlier i went out to the Savage site, it seems to be down and will not load the customer service page, I went out to Leupolds site, and they do not list the Stevens 200 in the fit chart. Both the 308 and 22-250 should both be short action, so the bases should be the same for both rifles.

Look for bases to fit a Savage 10 with round rear receiver or accutrigger.  Larry
