Peep for pre-64 Model 94

Do any of the current receiver mounted peeps on the market fit the factory D&T'd holes on the upper rear left side of the receiver?  If so, which ones.  I'd rather not have to drill and tap my late 50's vintage model 94 if I don't have to.  Thanks.

How about the Williams Foolproof, or 5D or the Lyman 66, for starters?  Pretty common and you can install them yourself in about 5 minutes.  check the catalogs/websites of Midsouth, Buffalo Arms, Midway, or several other suppliers of Williamr or Lyman receiver sights.  those two little plug screws are plugging holes used for the purpose of installing the aforementioned receiver sights.  If you hit the jackpot and can find one of the old Redfield sights, now no longer manufactured, that would fit these rifles, those holes are spaced for the appropriate Redfield model as well.

Let me say this, I wouldn't have one of those cheap looking Williams receiver sights on any rifle of mine. They wouldn't fit your pre-64 rifle, for the same reason the Lyman 66 series won't work on your pre-64 Winchester 94.

The Lyman 66 series of receiver sights won't fit your pre-64 Winchester, because your rifle is utilizes top ejection, of the spent cartridge case.

Lyman did make a receiver sight for your rifle, a long time ago. However, you needed to drill and tap the left side of the receiver to install it.

If you want a sight for your rifle, without drilling and tapping, your only recourse is to install either a Lyman or a Marbles TANG sight.

If you install a Lyman tang sight, you will have to drift your front sight from side-to-side to adjust the windage. Not a good thing to do, if it were my rifle.

Marbles has a Tang sight with the windage feature built into the base of the tang sight. I have installed Marbles tang sights, with the windage adjustment feature, on several of my lever guns.

Those receiver sight holes on the left side of a Winchester 94 appeared as standard from the factory, beginning in late 1951. That same thread size and hole spacing continued to be used throughout the top eject era, ending in 2001. That predates 1964, Bill.  The current Midway listings show 5D and FP Williams sights for top eject Winchesters.  Also, Lyman is still selling their 66 version for top eject Winchesters. At least they were showing them on their websight yesterday.  In fact, I just took one off one of my 94's recently so I could put in on a Rossi 92 after drilling it for the same hole spacing.  It appears that neither company discontinued their sidemount receiver sights for top eject Winchester 94's "a long time ago". 

Tang sight installation is an option if it pulls your chain, but looking at my own collection of 94's, some would require drilling and tapping.  I personally find tang sights to be a niusance in terms of thumb placement, not to mention catching them on twigs when hunting in the brush.
