slugs ballistic coefficient
« on: January 12, 2011, 05:54:24 AM »
can anyone tell me the coefficient of some of the more popular sabot slugs in 20 gauge? Looking more at the slugs that use a bullet that looks like some of the plastic tip muzzleloader bullets. I think Federal uses a barnes bullet, etc. at least the diameter of the slug?
Trying to play with trajectory tables.
Thanks.

I think that is a really good question. I used to use the Winchester Platnum slugs but swicthed when Hornaday came out with the SST's. The SST's start out 100 fps slower and according to their companies ballistic info they have the same ballistic coefficient. However, I got to think the pointed SST's would actually have a better ballistic coeficient. One of my projects that I never get around to is using my chronograph to measure their velocities near the muzzle and at 100 yards to find out for sure. I will try to get that done when it gets warmer and report back in this forum. All I know for sure is that both slugs can kill deer a long way out and are worth their high cost.
