Nitre Blue Question...

   I have a Browning A-5 Semi Auto Shotgun......  I have it stripped down ready for reblueing and I came across Nitre Blue Method. I know this method is usually used for Small parts because of its High Heat Method, Will i be alright to dip the receiver In the Nitre Salts as well (because i really like the color of this method). Or should I Go with a traditional method like Belgian Blue?.........Thanx for your help!

I would not alter the 'temper' of the receiver by applying that much heat. Nitre salts have almost exclusivelt been used for small parts..

Thanks for the info. I gues i will do the ole trusty Belgian Blue Method on it. Has anyone used this method be4? I have done a few other bluing methods but not the belgian blue method....Any Tips?, and how have ya'lls outcomes been with this method?

Hey Tiger;
   Glad to see you are back at working on civilian guns as well.  I just felt moved to jump in here and make sure you are working outdoors or in well ventilated conditions... with breathing protection..   Gramps

Ya I am Going to do it in the garage, i have it set up pretty good out there. The gun i have is an old belgian mad Browning A5....I took all the blue off it and cleaned it up. So now i am just waiting on some parts i needed for repairs on it and then i will finish it. pis to follow.....
