Just got a new encore pistol??????
« on: January 13, 2011, 12:25:39 PM »
I just got a new 15" encore in .243 win.

Now what i need to know is do I use the reloading data for rifles for the pistol.

What is the best way to carry the 15" hunting? a holster or sling. If anyone has some pictures that would be great.

Thanks
jake

http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp  this would be a good start..look under the pistol loads..they have .243 listed..rifle data will work..but the listed velocities are for pistol length barrels..and some powders will give less muzzle blast than others..

Bandoleer holsters are available for the 15 inch Encores. As mine is scoped and sports a bipod I carry it with a sling.

To each his own, but I have had my Contender since 1978 and I like a sling with 14 inch barrels and a shoulder holster with the 10 inchers.

One thing I like about the sling, if you adjust it just right, leave it around the back of your neck and extend you arms out until the sling tightens, it really helps with hard long shots.

The lyman 49th and the Nosler loading guide has data for the encore and tender barrels in your commin cal's.
As for carring I use a sling and a Bipod rig that works for me

For who I think makes the best Encore holster, visit the link below.

As for loads; what works best in a rifle will also probably work best in a handgun.

As for holsters for hunting rigs, Dave @ Quite Hide holsters will custom make anything you can imagine and very reasonable too.  Give him a shout.
