"Cancer Cannon Shoot"
« on: January 13, 2011, 01:53:40 PM »
Had chemo today, and i just want to say: cancer sucks, and i'm not saying that just for me , but for everyone that has cancer. So here's what i'll try and get done about it. Thought about holding a "Cancer Cannon Shoot", the targets will be different kinds of cancer. Now i'm figuring that we probably have a scientist or two on this board, GGaskill is kinda like a scientist, maybe he can use his Cad software to draw out some nasty villian cancer cells for targets. I don't have a printer, so maybe Catwhisperer can print the targets out and bring them over. Are mission will be to stay on the field until all the nasty villian cancers have been shot.

I'll try to get some shots (and photos) in on this one.

I'm thinking CANNISTER!!!

Never did get around to the testing of the buckshot cannister in the Napoleon. Got a little, uh, "sidetracked" last spring.

This would be a good opportunity to see what kind of "therapy" I can inflict on some "cancers" with a payload of 27 triple-ought pellets!

Cancer sucks! you've been in my prayers my friend, and I like the proactive idea of this shoot!
I have three people in my life that are now gone from various forms of cancer so when the time
comes to send iron or lead down range I would like to be there.

Terry C, i love the CANNISTER!!! ideal, that gives me something to think on. I'm enclosing a picture of my golfball and wood sabot load, that i use in the Krupp Ballonabwehrkanone. I just might remove the golfball in some of the loads, and use marbles. I'm all for putting some hurt and infliction, on those nasty villian cancers.

I'm game for the targets although the job is more for an artist than an engineer.  But anyone else who has knowledge of these cells is welcome to participate, too.  Here are some options:

Those are some nasty villian cancers you picked, i wonder if we should draw some legs and arms on them?

Why don't we  in show of support for you Lance, shoot at the cells of the type of cancer you have Lance!  Which Cancer do you have?

Allen, you are more than welcome to show up at this shoot, work the time out with Tim (CW). I've lost people too, and was just thinking the other day: Some people walk for cancer, some wear tee shirts, or put bumper stickers on their vehicles. Well, i like to do things different, and i want to shoot some nasty villian cancer targets. I plan to invite some people from the cancer center that gives me my chemo treatments. I don't know how many would like to attend, but who knows? they might want to shoot some cancer targets.

Stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma, but i see lot's of people at the cancer center, with all kinds of cancer, so any cancer target will be fine to shoot at.

Sounds good, Lance! This is a magnified image of oat cell, or small cell lung cancer, which is the type that took my mother. My cousin has access to a printer that can make quality enlargements, so I think I'll ask him to do that, then take it out to the range and obliterate it.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Boom J, i'm sorry to hear about your mother. I can't say it enough: Cancer Sucks!
I'll also be making some cannister rounds for my 1" Dahlgren, just in case any cancer cell thinks it might get away.

Hmmmm.  Don't realy have a cannon to shoot (firecracker cannons don't do it for cancer).  Maybe I should bring my double bbl. 10ga.   ;D

I talked with a cancer patient on the phone today, and without going into details, she has really suffered with cancer. I told her that some of us cannon and mortars folks were going to " blow the crap" out of some cancer targets, and i didn't think she would ever quit laughing. She really likes the ideal, and wants to attend the shoot i'll be holding here. She wants me to make a poster and hang it up at the cancer center, so folks can at least log on to GBO cannon and mortar, and see some cancers get shot full of holes. I would like to hold the shoot as soon as possible, but i also want the weather to be decent for any cancer patients that might want to attend, so the date is up in the air. Any of you folks out there that want to go ahead and print some cancer targets and start shooting them full of holes, that's fine with me, i'll be joining you when things get worked out.

I have to pick weekends between chemo treatments, and looking at the calendar: February 5th 2011 would be o.k. for the cancer cannon shoot.
Since it will probably be cold, i'll have a fire barrel set up so we can stand around it. Then i figure that after a couple of hours of shooting, we can all go to town and get some mexican food to warm us up.

And it might be that Dale will be free for the event with his new golf-ball bore cannon.  We have some woodwork to do!

I wish i felt like doing some woodwork, i wish i felt like doing anything, that's the chemo working on me.
I figure by the 5th that i should have enough cannister rounds made up to get the job done. Now i'm telling you this: don't make fun of the Mexican restaurant in town, that's where i like to eat.

You're definitely not in the Far East!  ;D

We're expecting a Contental approach to shooting cancer from y'all!
