Ruger #3 rebarelled to 220 Swift 44gr. H414, RP/RP and 50 gr speer sp's. Have shot lots with it.  One day I got 3 in about 15 seconds. Ma and 2 pups. Shot Ma first then the 2 pups as they ran straight away in the field. The last one was about 350 or so but you still hold dead on w/a +2" at 200 Yds sight in. Muddy

From about 1978 to 2000 my only hunting rifle was a Ruger No. 1V in 25-06.  The scope was a Bushnell 4-12x50.

I used it for everything from groundhogs, foxes and coyotes up to boar and white tail, roe and red deer in the US and in Europe during the tours when I was stationed there.

When I moved west to New Mexico in 1982, I used a ruger #3 in 223 as a calling rifle for coyotes. It was my Jackrabbit gun also.  ;D  When my son grew big enough to start hunting I had it cut down to fit him, and he killed his first deer with it.

I shoot a T/C Contender rifle barrel in 222 Remington.  Just started shooting it last winter for squirrels using cast lead bullets but have a nasty coyote load ready for them doggies this winter.
