Republican fence
« on: January 14, 2011, 01:23:21 PM »
Obama just killed the Rebublican border fence.  That fence cost the taxpayers over $3,700 per foot.  Per foot.  What's up with Obama?  There's still 1,950 miles or about $38,000,000,000 of fence left to build.  Think of the jobs that would create!

Just think how much of that he can give to the parsites who voted for them. You parasitic liberals talking about creating jobs thats a laugh, like any of you have worked in a job that was an asset to the economy.

Just an economic lesson:

How many jobs would we get building the fence? We must think, who pays for it? The money to pay for government jobs can only come from the private sector as the government has no money except that which it extracts from the people. If then that capital is lost from the private economy, how many jobs are lost there?

Bottom line:
The government cannot create more jobs.
If fact, because of it's inefficiency, it destroys more jobs than it can claim to create.

Maybe without the socialistic government freebies to entice them, a fence would not be needed.

Exactly a "job" that is funded by tax money adds nothing to the economy. Don't try to explain this to a liberal parasite, they are what Ron White spoke of.

Pretty much, yeah. The ones that have government jobs do work, but in reality they are only giving back tax dollars when they pay taxes, as the money to fund them originally was tax money. So no the  democrat parasites do not pay taxes.

Another economic lesson:
The wealth of a nation is the sun total of the goods that it produces from raw materials. An increase in production must come from capital investment. Capital comes from savings. Some jobs are beneficial in that they enhance the sale, distribution and use of those goods.

What does the government produce? and does it not subtract from savings?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Hazlitt said:
To increase jobs you must first increase production. To increase production you must first increase capital investment. To increase capital you must first increase savings.

(A big government robs the economy of savings.)

Gary you have hit the nail on the head. That is what the liberal parasites cannot understand. They claim to pay taxes into the treasury. What they cannot understand is the income they derive is allready tax money that was paid in to the government and was redistributed to them. What they are doingwhen they pay taxes is giving back some of the tax dollars that were givin to them.

I actually think that government can and has created jobs, but you have to have a government that can reason and not one that thinks that everything is evil except giving handouts.  I live in a state that is blessed with an abundance of hyro-power.  It took federal (government) money to build the dams that harnesses that energy.  The industry and jobs that developed because of that government investment are incalculable.

When Raegan was President, the Social Security tax was increased to prepare for the baby-boomers and rightly so, but imagine if that money were invested in things that would create a return; such as power generation, water projects and maybe even some research, etc.--instead of just being wasted in the general fund.  The excess funds should have had very definite restrictions put on them.

And by the way, imagine how much money would have been saved if we did have an effective border security system.  It's still not too late, but I doubt that a fence is the answer.  A double fence with a minefield between might work.

Yet another economics lesson:
The Federal government has no money; therefore the money to build those dams came from other states. We will never know what things were not built with that money in those states or how many jobs were lost because of the lost capital. To believe that more jobs were created in your state than lost in the other states would mean to believe that the government is greater than 100% efficient.

Gary and magooch, Yep.

For the OP, republican fence?? Seems a few dems voted for its construction as well. Those against it are they not concerned with the security of our nation that they swore to protect? I do agree that the cost is astronomical, alot of that is every gooberment dept that handles the money has to get their cut. Be easier to just purchase a bunch of used Conex containers and stack them along the border. (I wonder how long it would be before holes were cut in them and they were occupied?) NO border can be absolutely secured, but infil. can sure be slowed.

GOD knows I'm not a fan of Obama or Big Sis, but this huge government waste of money on an electronic fence is stupid. Most of it doesn't work. there is huge cost overuns. The cameras often can't tell the difference from a person or a vehicle. When an "alarm" does come in, there are not enough folks available to respond. This tells me that it was designed to fail from the getgo. The real question is what happens to the remaining BILLIONS left unspent. Follow the money.
Brought to you by the same governemnt that has ruined SS, medicare, several wars, foreign policy, our economic system and now healthcare.

It takes dozens of people to make a fence like this, with more technology, work surrounding Bagram Army Air Field.

It would take thousands to make it work across the border.....

Powderman, Israel is smaller than New Jersey. Besides, the U.S. probably paid for their fence.

I have no idea if a fence could work; I am not an engineer. But, with our unsustainable debt, I doubt we can afford it.
Other than that, I have no opinion.

Powderman has a good point. Isreal's fence works well. You know what happens if you try to cross their fence?
The last sound you would ever hear is AK-47 fire.  Great deterent.
While I'm not advocating shooting illegal aliens, we must supply a deterent.
My second thought about the fence(yes, I know its rare for me to have more than 1 thought at any given time) is that the huge demand for drugs is fueling the influx.  Reduce the demand, reduce the traffic.

If they would string enough National Guard and inactive soldiers on the border so that every one of them was within earshot of one another, that would create alot of jobs. The full length, from the Gulf to the Pacific!

The money that would be spent on the border guards would get spent right back into the economy. Like a stimulas, only better!   ;D

If we could ever get our elected officials (yes, Dems and Reps) to JUST ENFORCE THE LAW, the problem would probably just go away. Prosecute anyone that hired an illegal alien. For any job. period. We have the technology to do instant FBI background checks for citizens who want to purchase a gun. Use the same technology to verify social security numbers. If a 20 year old applies for a job with a social security number that belongs to a deceased 86 year old farmer from Wisconsin and that 20 year old gets the job, the person that did the hiring should go to jail. If they can't find work here they won't stay here where the cost of living is 10 times higher than where they came from. We don't need a fence, just enforce the law.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

Don't need a fence....just enforcement. Hard enforcement.

And no....legislation to build a fence using tax dollars does not create anything worth while for our economy.
Sustainable jobs that help the economy are never born through legislation held up by our tax dollars.  They are
born in the private sector only, with no government involved, and no legislation.
