A couple years ago i bought a brand new 22lr Sportster. Nice little rifle, shot it a few times, then in the process of trying to put a couple other projects together i got the bright idea of selling the barrel to make another project work. I must be a A number one moron. I have no idea why i do stuff like that ::). So a while back i posted a WTB for a 22lr barrel,bumped it three times, and didn't get one response. Tried it again a couple weeks ago, bumped it twice and one of our members came thru for me, a like new barrel that's a perfect fit on my receiver.....whew! I guess now I feel whole again. maybe someday i'll grow up, I'm 58 yrs old :P

Zoner I just turned 65.  I've grown "older" not "upper" ;D Keep wondering what I what to be when I grow up!

Last summer we had a friendly silhouette shoot and a couple of local 12 yr. old boys as target setters (see the article in the Black Powder Cartridge News, winter#72, 2010). I took the H&R with the Sportster barrel (it is a swap barrel UV 22Mag) with the CR-Carbine wood. The boys had a chance to shoot about what they wanted, but one really took to that carbine; I think he went through about 300 rounds and was ready for more but mom came too soon.

Too bad H&R doesnt make one like I have it set up, they would sell a bunch!

gcrank do you have a pic of the sportster with the BC carbine wood on it? I'm tryin to decide whether to go that route with mine, or go with a laminate stock set.

It is really an UV that started as a .22Mag and cin. lam. wood. When I got the .22LR Sportster barrel from you I went with the CR-Carbine wood (shorter forestock than the BC) and it really came together for looks and feel. The trimmer stock is just plain nicer with the smaller calibers, though a straight wrist/hard buttplate and schnable PW stock set would do as well.
I have the .22Mag c/w an old B-6 (3/4" tube) scope as a swap barrel for this, It is a nice enough set that Ive considered getting a nice take-down case for it all.
The antler is a found shed from a few years ago here in S.Central WI on the farm where I grew up. We still have some nice buck but they have gone pretty much nocturnal and not often seen.

   I'll second the BC wood. I've been looking on the classifieds here for some time trying to find some. I think they'd make a lot of the Handi' s look a lot better. I might end up having to buy a set direct from the factory.

not sure how mine will end up. Its getting a simmons 2.5x20mm scope, mounted low up in front of the hammer. Stocks i'm still deciding...either BC carbine,TDC's, or lams.

Rusty, about the time you buy some new a set will turn up on the classifieds (aint that the way it always goes  ;)), but you gotta check often and be QUICK (snooze ya loose)!

Zoner, as you well know, the stocks are just sooo easy to change that you can set it up and use/look at for a while until you get what you want. Im tempted to file a PW pistol grip off to a straight wrist just to have one around. Its a cheap way to get more of the feel of the BC set and the std. Handi 'schnable' forestock is the same length as the CR-carbine walnut one, as on mine in the pic. (the BC forestock is longer and throws the proportions off, to me).

mine has the scope mounted,forward of the hammer with medium rings on the weaver base with an extra slot. Straight comb PW buttstock shortened 3/4" w/ H&R buttplate, standard schnabel PW forend. Gonna change the medium rings out for low rings and am thinking about the BC carbine stock or laminate straight grip and comb.  Decisions,decisions ;) BTW the scope is a 2.5x20mm Simmons 8 Pt shotgun scope.
