I would guess she was more interested in your cats than rats and mice in your yard. Cats don't last long around here. If I or my Jack Russel don't get them, the coyotes do. They (coyotes) occasionally mark my driveway as part of their territory. I think they like to harass my Jack Russell, and yes, coyotes are getting more comfortable in semi-rural, and even town environments. Little dogs, and cats are a buffet favorite for coyotes.
Squirrels are taking over my neighborhood, because many of my moronic neighbors are too civilized to realize that they are destructive to home, and feed the damn things. I personally CB cap them, and use them as dog food, although the are pretty good eatin for human consumption.
