Can you help me identify this Muzzle loader
« on: January 16, 2011, 02:17:41 PM »
I got in a trade a old .58 cal muzzle loader(percussion), it is a octagon barrel, all the hardware is brass, but there is no Name on it.

There is the letter I inside a circle, and it says Made In Italy

There is a little storage compartment on the side of the stock(it is a little door that open up)

It looks like an Investarms Hawken. Cabelas sells a .45 and .50 version. I think they sold the .58 back in the 90's. Investarms makes the Lyman GPR. They are supposed to be good guns.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

I have a Cabelas .54 Investarms Hawken flintlock that looks just like it.  I got mine in the late 90's as a kit.

Any Idea what the .58 cal would be worth if I tried to sell it?

Usually the Invest arms rifles, with the exception of the Great Plains Rifle (GPR) sell for less than the Thompson traditional rifles. The condition of the rifle would also weigh in. I would suggest looking at the gun sites, like here on GBO, Gunbroker.com, Auction Arms and others, to get an idea of what they are bringing.

PM sent.
For an idea of what they sell for look at some that have sold. Asking prices and the selling prices on auction sites are sometimes WAY different.
