Could you have seen them even if you looked it over closer?  The only nubbin i ever killed you could have looked at it all day and never seen them. I rolled it over to gut it and saw it was a male. Run my hand acrossed the top of his head and could just feel the buttons. Regardless of what i have read on here. You CAN'T always see them.

Oh well eat it.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

If it was a legal kill enjoy the table fare, we have all shot a slick head and turned it over to find out it had a small set.   Jim

You aint alone, brother. Enjoy the meat. I have done the same thing. InTX a nub is still a doe unless the antler breaks the skin(rarely does). But that's why they call it "antlerless and spike" season. Just enjoy the venison. He was probably going to be a bad guy deer anyway.......... (:

No Guilt!  He has buddies you have not even seen.  He will taste good too!  I shot the largest "doe" of four crossing a field, 165 yards, 6:40 AM, November 2010.  Turned out to be a BB.  No guilt here.

I did the same thing Saturday a week ago. My buddy wanted a young doe to skin out and process himself so about 5:20 PM I headshot him one. Only way to tell was when we hung it on the skinning rack and took a look underneath. I felt bad about it but the meat will still be tender and good.

....if you put the crosshairs on it and pulled the trigger it was no accident. You may have mistook it for a doe, but you still killed it legally and ethically. Like the other have said, eat and enjoy. Ain't the first nubbin' shot by mistake and won't be the last.

I've done it a few times-just this year I had a doe and two fawns go into some thick brush, they changed positions in the brush and I dumped a BB. It was a legal, ethical, and safe kill-not one I wanted to make but a deer I tagged, butchered, and am eating.
