40 cal & lube?
« on: January 17, 2011, 05:26:26 AM »
I just cast some 40 S&W using a lee mould and sizer. I used Lee L A lube. I am wondering if I need to re-lube after sizing? The sizing only removes the lube from the driving bands. It looks to me the case would remove this lube when you seat the bullet. What do you guys think or how do you do ?

BB

Lee says to re-lube after sizing , for what its worth , I don't and have not had a problem with leading yet , if the case mouth is properly belled it should not shave the lube from the bullet .

Try a few each way and see what works best , all of mine are shot in wheelguns so an auto-loader may act differently with their bullets .

stimpy, i think you nailed it. I went ahead and relubed, I doubt you can have to much lube. But I think you are right I need to bell my brass a bit more. I have almost none. Thanks.
