Remington Model 600, in .35 Rem
« on: January 17, 2011, 06:29:20 AM »
Got a question boys.
I generally hang out over in the H&R section, but came over here to try to verify the number out Rem M600 in .35 Rem that were made.

I tried a search, but couldn't couldn't find much.

I do have one, gift from my MIL,( Cool, huh?) and now while on a road trip I found another for sale for $900. (thinking a little steep for me)

Anyway, the guy claims that there were only 3029 made, that is why he's asking $900 bucks.

I sure that there are records out there somewhere, so I'm just trying to verify his claim.
Thanks

I know of at least 2 in My area. And I'd guess that there are more, couple of collectors around.  One has a high quality custom carved Manlicher stock, the other is factory. The Guy who resocked the one, told Me that if I ever ran into a 600 in 35 Rem., buy it because they are rare. Don't know if a factory one would be worth $900, but one could not buy either one of these for that price. If I did find one, I would look real close to see that it was original and not rechambered, (for the purpose of selling a faux, for a higher price) More so goes for a 600 in .223 - rarer. Hope this helps.

Called Customer service, they have a find out what years your remington was made and history section.

When I asked for the info on units produced, I was told curty that we don't give out that infomation.
So then I told her that I had heard 3029, and was told, again they can't give out that info.

So I asked if I could get just a yes or no answer....and was asked if I wanted her to lie????

I thought that was kinda a carppy answer, so, I just said "Thanks and hung up"
Customer Service?....Hmmmmmmm, make me wonder.

Well, we all know that Remington certainly isn't the company it used to be. There actually WAS a time when machinists and riflemen in the Ilion, NY plant were more important than the bean counters in corporate. But I digress, LMAO.

Remington won't tell you, but if you know the old links in their archives, that they don't tell you about on their website anymore, you can get some pretty good information, although not specifically what you asked for. However, I think you can make an educated guess that the figure you've been told is probably pretty close to correct if you look at this link and draw several conclusions as to what people were looking for during that time period.

http://www.remington.com/products/archived/centerfire/bolt-action/model-600-carbine.aspx

Considering that the 600 was only produced for 4 years, from 1964 to 1967, at a time when the 35 Remington was looked down at compared to the other calibers offered in the 600 at that time period, that could fling copper & lead WAY zippier than the 35 Remington, coupled with the fact that only 94 thousand 600's were produced in that  4 year period, it's probably a pretty good guess that the figure you came up with is probably fairly accurate as to the number of 600's produced in 35 Remington.
