Quarter scale parts for the No.1 Field Carriage
« on: January 17, 2011, 11:25:33 AM »
Does anyone know of a Company producing quarter scale parts for the No.1 Field Carriage?
I am trying to build one for a 3 inch Parrott gun.
I can make most of the parts but I need an Elevating Screw and Screw Box.

Regards,
Tony

Rotunda,
If none of the forum sponsors have contacted you, here are a few outfits that make reduced scale carriages, but I don't know if any of them work in quarter scale. As I recall, you got drawings from AOP; wouldn't it be less expensive to have a machine shop there make an elevation screw from a scaled down drawing, than to have an American manufacturer make one for you (along with the added cost of shipping)?

I'm fairly sure that all of these are listed in the stickies.

Hi Boom  J,

Thanks for finding the stickies. I hadn’t seen those sites on the board.
I was hoping that there might be someone out there already tooled up and producing quarter scale parts such as Elevating Screws  and Screw Boxes.

To get a machine shop to make one off’s to quarter scale over here would cost about double the price of the full size one’s in the States .

Tony,
The other day I came across this company that produces quarter scale U.S. Napoleons (2nd item down); they might be willing to make an elevation screw for you.
