New Stock? Hogue or Bell Carson?
« on: January 18, 2011, 05:11:26 AM »
I recently purchased a Remington SPS Varmint in .223. I want to replace the plastic stock. I was torn between the Hogue Full Aluminum Beddding block stock or a Bell and Carson Medalist. Anyone have some thoughts on either? I do have the cheaper pillar bedded Hogue on another rifle, I like the feel. I have never seen the B&C.

I got a lemon of a Bell and Carlson medalist stock for my Savage a few years back, so I'm not a fan of them.  I will say though that they do appear to make a better product than Hogue from what I've seen.  I've only owned the pillar bedded Hogues too, and they went away rather quickly for McMillans.

Bell and Carlson might be producing a better product now than a few years ago, I see more factory Remingtons coming out with them.

Check out the H-S stocks too if you are limited to that price range.

Can't comment on B&C but do have s hogue overmold stock on a 10/22 and feel as though its quite heavy.  I wouldn't want to carry it all day.
Yeah, I'm a rifle looney

I haven't used a Medalist, however, I have three Duramaxx and one Carbelite from B&C.
All were 100% drop-in. I have found them all to be excellent alternatives to the factory stocks.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!!
