powder and primers for 223

which powder and primers are good for the 223 remshooting out of a handi rifle and bullet options to going to need some of those to.

I use BLC2, Rem 7 1/2s and 50 gr Nosler SPs. Seems to work OK for ringing the gong.

Ill,any 50-55 grain bullet and any of these powders are a good start.....H-335,748,BLC2,Varget,and maybe the best for first try either h-4895 or IMR-4895
The .223 is easy cartridge to load for.

Real good luck with Varget and Rem 7 1/2 in my Handi. Bullets in the 50-55grn range.
I should add, I like the Hogdons "Extreme" line of powders for their temp insensitivity, Varget is one, and I've seen little differance on paper from 25-85 degree weather here in MN.

Remington 7 1/2 , CCI BR4's or CCI 450's are good, they are a little thicker and will keep you from piercing primers.  Larry

lots of good ones. 332 335 benchmark varget blc2 aa2230 ect. But lately ive been using alot of ramshot xterminator. Its a good powder and is cheaper then the rest.

As already stated, W748, BLC-2, H335 are good with 50 grain bullets in the Handi. In my experience, my best Handi load was using Varget and 50 grain Hornady V-Max with CCI or Winchester primers.  I do not like Remingtion primers - absolutely do not use Remington 6 1/2 primers for .223 - these will puncture and are only rated for .22 Hornet.

Varget and CCi-450's were good across the board for my 223 handi.

It is hard to beat Remington 7 1/2 primers for .223. I use BL-C2, W748, or WC846(milsurp) for propellants. They all seem to work ok for me.

I have a quantity of Rem SR match primers and lucky they have proved to be very good.

I also like the lighter side of bullets in my 223 H&R as I use them for varmints and want them to "esplode"  ::)  I prefer 50's but the 60g are a max for me. By and large the 50/55g are the bullet for my .223's.

For an accuracy load, I have found many 223's like a load of H322, and a 52/53G match bullet with a match primer.
