« on: January 19, 2011, 08:57:23 AM »
Im looking at these 2 pistols, but im not to familiarly with this brand.  The seller has $400 on both, im not wanting to pay that for them...  I already have an 1860 Army, but would like a back up  :)

You can get new steel framed revolvers for not too much more. I would pass.

If in new or like new condition I think $150 each would be fair.

He wanted $200 a piece, and has 3 of them.  I offered to buy all 3 at a discount since I was buying all 3, and he is firm on 200...  So I passed.

my offer was 130 a piece for each X3, and he is firm at 200...  oh well  i"ll keep looking

Heck you can get steel framed 1858 Remington copies by Pietta for $199 brand new from Cabelas.   No way I'd pay that much for brass framed guns.

I got the same one a few years ago when they were on sale for $189 (think I had a coupon at the time to knock a bit more off of it too).  I was a little difficult to do some things like remove the cylinder until it had been broken in (pin was tight - took a hammer and punch to drift it out first dozen times or so), but after that break in its been flawless for me.  Now I just gotta get me an 1860 Colt copy :).

EDIT: Actually, apparently the 1860 steel framed guns are on sale too:

Thanks for that info.  I have only really seen the sets at Bass pro, and they want 350 for those....  I bought my 1860 army at an estate sale for 100, and love it!  Just getting into BP shooting.  Got the pistol, musket, and muzzle loader this year.  This hunting season i hope to them

If you are going to shoot your revolver much, avoid brass frames. They do look nice.
