Looking for Wal-marts with H&R?
« on: January 20, 2011, 02:00:57 PM »
I moved to Lansing, MI last year and im up here for another year and the walmarts around me have no guns but a couple Muzzle Loaders. Does anyone know any walmarts in michigan within a hour or two from Lansing that have guns. When I lived in Columbus one of the wal-marts in the suburbs had a nice gun shop area and thats what im looking for because I always here everyone in here saying how good the prices are at walmart on H&R

  I think Walmart keeps guns out of their city and near suburbs stores.  I live in a rural area and the Walmarts which serve this area carry a fair line of guns, but as I go toward the city (Buffalo NY) Walmarts no longer carry guns..this includes the ones in the suburbs..Orchard Park (Buffalo Bills ), West Seneca etc.  I have heard that some Walmarts in western states also carry reloading supplies..where none of ours do.

    We country folk and the city types seem to be 2 different worlds ...and this just puts an exclamation point on the notion... ;) :D

Same deal in Alabama;
No guns in Walmarts until you get about 25-30 miles out of Birmingham.

We had a shooting at our Birmingham Walmart a couple of month ago, but it was just the employees shooting at each other.
I guess they brought the guns from home.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

   Ron;
  You gave me a start when you mentioned "Target" ! :D ;D  The Target big box stores are owned by a French firm, and they won't even carry a cap gun or caps..not even toy guns... :D

  BTW:  Being named TARGET...I wonder if they are considered "purveyors of violence" since the congress lady was wounded in the Tucson shootings "  ;) :D ;D

Anyone know what Walmart is charging for a standard Handi rifle without scope these days? The shotguns go for $127 I think and scoped Handis go for around 297 if I remember correctly.

the Walmarts in my area of Illinois stopped selling guns, and I thought this was a nation wide thing that they were doing, but maybe not.  There is a walmart about 40 minutes from me in the "big" city still sells guns.

Heck our target don't sell anything to do with hunting  :o

Our walmart(1/2 mile from Bass Pro) sells guns. Our walmart 30 miles from the city, out in redneck central does not! go figure.

  Try asking in the store. I asked the people in  the sporting goods section only to find I had to go to the next county to find one that sells guns even though the one closest to me does sell ammo.

I stopped at a WallyWorld in Stuebenville, OH last summer & walked through their gun area.  This one not only sold guns but also had smokeless reloading supplies, primers, powder, bullets, etc.  Too bad it's a 4 hour drive from my house. :(

Chris,

The Wallyworld on Central Ave., near Holland-Sylvania carries firearms, or did last time I stopped about 2 months ago.  I believe they had a couple of H&Rs but I think they only had scatter guns.

   Went to a Walmart website by searching for > Walmart guns <   they said there " Walmart sells guns only at stores which have a firearms dealer license".  From there, I suppose whether any store has a license depends upon the local demand for guns.  For some reason when you search, you will find that Wally World likes to refer to guns as "special oprder guns"..
    I did find this catalog but you can't get prices from it (unless you have a UPC reader?) .

If your local Wally-world carries any kind of long guns they should be able to order any H&R rifle or shotgun you want.  Find the sporting goods manager and ask to see their special order catalog.

Target is owned by the french what do you expect. As for wally world if they carry guns just ask to see the catalog and order the one you want out of it not necessary to find what you want in stock.

Somebody started the French rumor around 5 years ago for Target.  Before I retired from the military, our unit CMDR informed us that it wasn't true because somebody was trying to get everybody to boycott them.  Here's the Link:
