Price on the French MAS 49/56 is climbing as well, still prefer over Centuries CETME they assembled in 2004.
For many years now the french MAS 49/56 commando rifle in 7,5f has always been cheap. I keep on seeing them for $150+ in the past. I got two unissued ones with accessorices from SOG for $189 each. I picked up two french 49/56's that were converted by century arms to 308 for $150 each too. These are a hoot to shoot and overlooked by many collectors and i guess its the 7,5mm ammo. I had to get my second 49/56 in 7,5 because i let my son shoot it and i never see it when i bring it with us to the range now. Its the first rifle that he grabs so i needed two so i could shoot one too. I also have a cetme in 308 from century arms too. The recoil is like a ruger 10/22 rifle its so little recoil yet it throws out the 308 round respectively and accurate too. Back then on the down side my cetme was $400 but it came with extra mags, ammo pouches and the cleaning stuff. I been lucky so far i got two 49/56's that were converted to 308 and one cemtme that also cycles and functions ok too. I have heard of there being bad ones too. I am surprised that the 49/56 stayed so cheap for so long. There a great rifle. I know at onetime the 7,5 french ammo was slim to none in finding any. The FNM ammo was offered first for the french mas rifles. It worked in some rifles yet in others it didn't. My two new 49/56's cycled with it ok but my m49 didn't cycle with it. Once the second batch of the 7,5 frech ammo was loaded with a higher powder charge and it works in any 7,5 french rifle. I don't see anymore FNM frenck ammo but Priv-partizan is offering the french 7,5mm ammo now. The only surplus 7,5mm french ammo was the linked machine gun ammo but most of that is gone now. There's not much to reloading the 7,5mm calibers too they use the 30cal bullets. CZY
