What do you guys think we would have to do to get H&R to start making these... sure would be cool in a camo stock!

They already make them, but they only market them in the SE tho. They make two of them actually, a 35 Rem and a 35 Rem/444 Marlin combo. They also have some accessory barrels, see the new acc barrels sticky.

Considering that the factory already has actions and barrels we arent asking much for them to offer ANY of their available stocks as an option on any frame. The base price could maybe be the PW with an 'upgrade charge' from there depending on the type stock desired.
What a marketing move that would be! I can see the new catalog now..........

I would love one in 35 rem, but they are having the same problems with them as the whelen. Something about those 35's.

Tim is there anyway to get one in 35 Remington out in the northwest or are we just out of luck? I know your saying they only distribute them down south and the like but it would seem foolish that they chamber this round and exclude it from different parts of the country. I think a single shot 35 Remington would be a neat little setup.

Not having any problems with my .35 Rem. It shoots a whole lot better than I do! I believe it's the best Handi I've ever owned.

It's because of two things Mike. First off, Remington virgin brass is quite soft and the shoulders used to head space the cartridge off of are small.

Also if you look at other action designs like a Marlin lever for example the extractor holds the head against the firing pin. Similar deal for many bolt guns. NOT so with out handis. So the firing pin strike can actually ever so slightly compress the case enough for an occasional FTF.Stealing some of the firing pins inertia.

The 35 Rem can actually be worse in this regard as it's diameter its a bit less than the Whelens. Handicapping both of these awesome calibers when chambered in our Handis. (Not all the guns have the problems)

A 357 mag re chambered to 356 would surpass 35 rem ballistics and sit firmly within the Whelen's with all but the heaviest bullets. aving one is as simple as a reamer rental/re-chamber and 30-30 extractor swap. The 356 Winchester is quite an under estimated and  underutilized caliber. Cases are made from 307 cases with a simple run thru a 356 /358 re-sized die. It has a bit less case cap than the 308-358 and it also has a handi friendly 30-30 dia rim!

No one I know carries them, you might be able to get an accessory barrel tho, and a 357mag makes a fine rechambered 35 Rem, but if you want a 35 there's always the 35 Whelen, Bud's has em in stock. FWIW I've never had any problems with my 35 Rem or either of my 35 Whelens. 8)

Can't you locate a dealer in the SE, that has a 35Rem, Handi in stock, and have him send it to your FFL guy?  BTW, I happen to notice that information on a dealer that has them in stock was discussed in another thread.  Name of dealer and telephone number also listed.  If your interested, see link below.

Hey guys, I saw a 35 rem handi at a gun shop in tulsa yesterday.  Its call sportsworld.  They have a website.  good folks to deal with.  don't recall the price or if it was a wood stock or plastic.

I ahve my dealer looking, I want the 35Rem as its gonna be a 356 and I can real that one myself VS having to go 357Mag and have a GS do it for longer time and more $$....
 
I wonder if access barrels are avalible....

I picked up the combo for $289.00 shipped. The site jerked me around as when I tried to purchase it on line the price went to $340.00, so I did not purchase it. I kept checking and then one day it was $289. again so I called and the sales person took my info and about 4 or 5 week later I  had  the 35/444 combo for $ 289.00. The same place has it for $ 290.00 but lists it as out of stock. If you keep checking you may get one for the $290.00.  Tom
