Got me a Bronco
« on: January 23, 2011, 11:59:19 AM »

1980, six cyl and four on the floor, man that 1st is a granny, nine inch rear

I actually drove it home 50 or so miles, was ready to get it towed.  I asked the guy a bunch of times, come on man, tell me what is wrong with it, he said the rear main leaked so I brought extra oil but it was just a small leak, no massive hemmorage.

I was very lucky to get this truck, man what a deal. the body is super straight and its all there.

He said it spent 12 years in Rocksprings at the ranch.  Pretty funny it had what looked like an aftermarket dimmer switch, turns out it was for when you mount a feeder/broadcaster.   ;D

I had to change the lock cylinder.  It was so worn that you didn't need a key to start it and drive it.  That steering wheel was not easy to get off. I had to helicoil one of the puller bolt holes.

I really like the ford full size broncos. Nice handling off road vehicles.  ;D if that has the big six, the 300ci six they are great motors. I pulled a 4 horse stock trailer all over new Mexico with one in a F150 pu.

thanks, it was one of those things that i didn't expect a whole lot but for some reason decided to get the money out of the bank and go look at it, man I"m glad I did!
I imagine that little six is pretty tired, and who knows what all else needs attention....but

with the income tax refunds coming up that truck would not have lasted much longer.  The man said he had all kinds of people calling him wanting to buy the brush guard.  I imagine I could gain about 5 mpg w/o it   ;D but have mixed feelings bout it, may leave it on.

The back seats are not the best for full sized adults but my kids are still small and they can see very well out of it and be right there with me rollin down the road, and nice buckets in the front.

the visibility is excellent from the drivers view as well.  I love my little F100  but the cab filled up real quick with stuff and people.  so my new  Bronco is a family car!

thanks pastorp, know you from many years at Marlintalk and MO, take care
