h&r handi rifle ejection problems
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:14:38 PM »
I just bought a used handi rifle in .223 and it does not eject shells.  Is there a quick fix to this?

See the FAQs; but it might be an ejector model.

Welcome!! As has been said, it may be an extractor, H&R started using extractors on centerfire rifles in 2004, haven't made ejectors since about 2007 except for rimfires and shotguns. If it is an ejector that is sticking(the round doesn't move at all when the action is broke open), either the extractor cam is broken, or the ejector needs a little tuning, and/or the chamber needs to be polished, both ejector issues are covered in the FAQs. There are pics in the FAQs that show the difference between ejector and extractor underlugs.
