new 357 Mag
« on: January 29, 2011, 01:38:50 AM »
:) :)Got my new 357 mag Thursday afternoon , took it the range yesterday to see how it would. here is a pic of how it shot at 25 yards right out of the box using American Eagle 158 gr SP.  Had few blackened primer dents at first but that went away after a few firings.  Also have a strange mark on the barrel, its an oblong stamping with the letters REP in the center, what would this signify? All i all very pleasant gun to shoot. Now to start working on reloads, not sure what to start with. I not to crazy about the plastic stock either, may go to wood.

Congratulations on your .357 and welcome aboard. You have a highly respected caliber there buddy and the more you shoot it the better it will shoot. Come often and stay late, when you are here you are among friends....<><....:)

Nice shootin' and welcome.  It is still a bit early in the morning but I would expect Pete to post shortly that you need to convert your gun to a Maxi. ;D

Been meaning to ask about that REP stamp on the barrel myself.  It's on the barrel of my .35 Whelen.  Goatwhiskers

Congrats and nice job. Shooting that good out of the box? That is outstanding. A little tinkering and you will have one jagged hole.

Tom, you're right.  I'm here.

Ream it to Maxi an put it on a BC Carbine stock and cut it to 16.5 inches and you'll think you died and went to heaven.

I sighted mine in with American Eagle and MagTecs in .38 and .357.  Now, I load 158 gr. for the .38s and .357s and 180s for the Maxi.

Good luck, enjoy your new baby.

Pete

As I understand it the REP is to signify that Remington made your Handi.
Love the 357, Max it when you need more POWER!
