picked up my m44 off layaway today
« on: January 29, 2011, 05:35:22 AM »
ok todays first time shot a 44 being seriously trying to hit something. I shot 23 rds I had half box of 180 gr hps. And I shot 10 or less 255 gr swc buffalo bore I was surprised the bbs had same recoil.  I averaged 5-6" group at 30 yards I hope to improve over the next 6 months
In theory its sound ",but in practice its flawed

I have a 4 inch Model 44. It is a good reliable gun and it has a great trigger. On mine I do need to make sure the screw above the trigger guard is kept tight. That 255 grain BB load is a good one. It is designed as a lower recoil round with enough penetration for protection from large animals. Double Tap loads a similar load. It is what I carry when in the woods or the Sierra 250 grain FPJ loaded with 20 grains on 2400. The 250 grain FPJ Sierra is one of my favorites in the Taurus. I reserve the heavyweights for the Ruger Super Blackhawk.

I am a big believer in BB bore ammo for their accuracy and performance(my avatar). Hands down the most accurate factory ammo I have ever fired. It makes my Smith 4" Model 10 think she is an adjutable sighted target gun as opposed to a fix sighted street gun (:

Have the same model in a 6.5".  I just use Winchester white box 240gr SP, PMC in the same weight TCSP on feral hogs. The revolver has been wonderful for a good number of years now without problems.

Hey guys. Got my dad the 6.5 blued version for his bday this yr. I didnt shoot it and he has only once aat the range(25yds), and then not really for accuracy tests, more like just to pull the trigger on it.  anyone out there tell us what can reasonably be expected out of this rervolver?
