Draco
« on: February 01, 2011, 03:41:10 AM »
I just picked up a Draco Pistol (ak47 pistol)  I guess I just needed to add a gun to my collection that really has no purpos other then being a range toy. I haven't been to the range with it yet. Anyone have one?

I finally got out to the range and shot the Draco. Holding a group under 2 inches ain't hard at 25 yards. Rapid fireing with it really can't be done unless you get a good comp on it.(I have a ak74 style coming) The sights are a bit hard to see so i can see possibly getting a ghost ring style peep (or I'll just machine one out) Though it still is fun to shoot plus it's a tacticool conversation peice. I'll give another range report once I get the comp on itand a rail system so I can put a red dot on it.

Your experience is what I've heard from several customers who have purchased them.  They make a lot of sense in the SMG role - but in semi-auto they are more of a novelty and not an aimed weapon - because there is no stock, you have to hold them out at arm's length like a pistol and absorb the recoil while trying to hold on target.  Very attractive item - fun at the range.

Just wanted to post a update, a ak74 comp really makes it quite useful 2 inch groups at 50 yards is no that hard to do off hand.

Glad to see you put the grip on the mag. Been seeing a lot of pics on the ak sites with grips on the forend. Would have to buy an AOW stamp for that to be legal.
A daytime green laser would be interesting on that weapon. May even be able to shoot from the hip for a little more control.

in simi in states that don't allow rifles to be loaded on the road a gun that holds the amount of ammo the Draco does and shoots a formatable round can be a great companion .

Yeah shootall, here in maine the draco falls into a bit of a loophole, When you get a concealed carry permit it states handgun only, since the draco is a handgun you can carry it here with a 75rd drum loaded in your car with a CCW permit. Another loophole is when you deer hunt with a semi auto matic rifle the gun can hold now more then 6 rounds and (my fn slp mark 1 shotgun I have to plug to 6 rounds in order to use it for hunting) (pumps levers, and bolts you are aloud to carry as many rounds as you'd like) this rule doesn't apply to handguns so I can load a 75 rd drum and take it deer hunting. Only because it's a handgun. Though ths is the case I would hate to have to explain to either a cop or a game warden in either situaton.

Whats to explain ? If you are legal you are legal . The old saying ignorance of the law is no defence works both ways ................
